5 Reasons Why My Dad Will Always Be My Biggest Hero

Nobody is perfect and no two dads are the same, but all I can say is that my dad is by far the biggest influence that I have in my life. Growing up I was never really considered a “daddy’s girl”, but as I got older I realized how important dads are and that mine would do anything just to see me succeed. Here are some of the reasons why dads will always be your biggest hero:

1. He gives you solid life advice

Growing up I have always asked my dad for advice for just about everything. From asking him about how to make spaghetti over the phone, for car help (AKA getting stuck on the side of the interstate) and asking his opinion before acting on something important, he always knew how to steer me into the right direction. Without his life lessons I probably wouldn’t be where I am today. Dads are not afraid to tell you what they did at your age and what they wish they would’ve done.

2. He’s only a phone call away

In most situations that happen in my life, he is the first one I call. If I get into a car wreck (again with the cars) or if I make Dean’s List, he is the first one on my list to call to brag or even cry to. It doesn’t matter what is thrown at me, he usually has an answer to help me or is just there to support me. He is calm in most situations where others wouldn’t be.

3. He teaches you how to be financially responsible

I know that money isn’t always the “correct” thing to talk about in public, but I am going to anyway. Money surrounds us and basically motivates us to get real big girl jobs or even to buy that expensive new purse that you have been keeping an eye on. My dad has taught me what the value of a dollar is. If I work hard for something there should be something to show for it. Saving up is one of the most rewarding things that there is (at least to me). Being able to spend money on something that you have been working hard for is awesome and shows that all of your hard work has paid off.

4. He shows you that everybody makes mistakes (& everybody has those days)

I have made my fair share of mistakes in my life, but luckily none that I absolutely regret making. My dad has told me stories from his own childhood that he wishes that he hasn’t done. He has learned from his own mistakes and then passed that knowledge on back to me. But without the experience of making your own mistakes, you may never learn. So basically it’s not always a bad thing if you mess up every once in a while because you would never grow from it.

5. He teaches you that hard work can take you anywhere in life

I can remember, even being a small child, that my dad has always told me to try my best. When it came to school getting good grades were a top priority in my house. Nine out of ten times I was harder on myself than my actual parents were on me, but that is because of the values that they have taught me. Nothing in life is handed to you, so you have to work for what you want in life; whether that is your dream job or a fancy new car. My dad has worked hard to get to where he is today and he is living proof of that.
